Backstory

[CW: several abandons and betrayals/loss, mention of miscarriage and Ace's death]

Born of a human mother and a Mink father, Sam has never belonged to either world, the Minks finding her too human and the humans too animal. This, combined with the fact that she had eaten the fruit of the imagination which was a ‘family treasure’ coveted by Donquichotte Doflamingo, sealed her fate, because as soon as her mother was offered the chance to sell her child to the Captain of the Donquichotte Family, she didn't hesitate for a moment, delighted to be rid of this ‘monster’.There she met Law and the other members of the Family, whom she quickly came to regard as her own family, since they were the only ones who treated her properly and without making fun of her ears or tail. It was at this point, and with Law's encouragement, that she developed a crazy dream: to write from scratch an objective and complete encyclopaedia on the world, with the aim of erasing as many inequalities and clichés as possible. However, when Rosinante and Law disappeared, she turned in on herself considerably.Nevertheless, she trained relentlessly to please Doflamingo. He wanted her to be able to use her fruit as well as possible despite her aphantasia, and congratulated her whenever she was able to show him her progress, which made her proud. And so, when she came of age, she became one of the hidden lieutenants of the Donquichotte Family, jealously guarded like an ace out of the sleeve.A year before the Marineford War, she met Ace by chance, and they became fast friends. They began spending time together training and eating. Ace helped her develop her powers and control them, and it was thanks to him that she was able to awaken her fruit. He was also the first person since Law to tell her that he loved her ears and tail and thought she was beautiful. They fell in love and consummated this love, from which a child grew. However, she told him she was pregnant just before he set off to confront Blackbeard and was captured. This had two repercussions for her: firstly, she blamed herself and was certain that if he had lost, it was her fault because he was distracted; secondly, she begged Doflamingo to do something and he refused, preferring his position as Warlord to the feelings of his adopted daughter. When Ace died, which she witnessed live from the Den Den mushi transcripts, she miscarried out of sadness and because of her Devil Fruit powers, Ace's death finding its way into her mind and having repercussions on her foetus. On the same day, she lost the love of her life and their child.As a result, she developed severe PTSD and problems of trust, both in others and in herself. Already in poor health, her health deteriorated further, and she has since been forced to walk with the aid of a cane. She has hip, back and uterine problems, as well as chronic fatigue; added to her autism, PTSD and ADHD.During the Dressrosa arc, she bumped into Law in the middle of the street. She immediately recognised his scent, and even though she couldn't believe her eyes, there he was, right in front of her. That was the last straw, and she vowed to help him defeat Doflamingo, against whom she had harboured a grudge for two years, ever since he refused to help Ace. And once Doflamingo had been defeated and captured by the Navy, Sam asked Luffy if she could join his crew, which he readily accepted. And when her captain left for Whole Cake Island in search of Sanji, she set sail with Usopp, Robin, Law and Zoro for Wano.

Appearance

Sam is a Mink-cat-human hybrid. She has animal features on her human body: two feline ears and a tail as brown as her hair, as well as hazel eyes with vertical pupils. She is also able to purr.She is 1m67 for 80kg which makes her hate her body which she considers too fat and unsightly.Her favourite outfit is usually a black shirt decorated with flowers, paired with a long flowing skirt and marteens. She always walk with a cane, is always chewing something or has something in her mouth (toothpick, ice cream stick, chewing gum, lollipop, biting her lips, etc.), has five tattoos (snake, fish, shapeshifter, three-eyed cat, half-human/half-skeleton mermaid), wear glasses, always has big dark circles under and around the eyes, has her hair pulled back into a negligent bun almost all the time except at night.

Histoire

[CW: Plusieurs abandons et trahisons/pertes, mention d'une fausse couche et de la mort d'Ace]

Née d'une mère humaine et d'un père Mink, Sam n'a jamais appartenu à aucun des deux mondes, les Minks la trouvant trop humaine et les humains trop animale. Ceci, combiné au fait qu'elle avait mangé le fruit de l'imagination, un « trésor familial » convoité par Donquichotte Doflamingo, scella son destin, car dès que sa mère se vit offrir la possibilité de vendre son enfant au capitaine de la famille Donquichotte, elle n'hésita pas un instant, ravie de se débarrasser de ce « monstre ».C'est là qu'elle rencontra Law et les autres membres de la Famille, qu'elle en vint rapidement à considérer comme sa propre famille, car ils étaient les seuls à la traiter correctement et sans se moquer de ses oreilles ou de sa queue. C'est à ce moment-là, et avec les encouragements de Law, qu'elle développa un rêve fou : rédiger de toutes pièces une encyclopédie objective et complète sur le monde, dans le but d'effacer autant d'inégalités et de clichés que possible. Cependant, lorsque Rosinante et Law disparurent, elle se renferma considérablement sur elle-même.Néanmoins, elle s'entraîna sans relâche pour satisfaire Doflamingo. Il voulait qu'elle soit capable d'utiliser son fruit aussi bien que possible malgré son aphantaisie, et la félicitait chaque fois qu'elle lui montrait ses progrès, ce qui la rendait fière. Ainsi, lorsqu'elle atteignit l'âge adulte, elle devint l'une des lieutenantes secrètes de la famille Donquichotte, jalousement gardée comme un atout dans sa manche.Un an avant la guerre de Marineford, elle rencontra Ace par hasard, et ils devinrent rapidement amis. Ils commencèrent à passer du temps ensemble, à s'entraîner, et à manger. Ace l'aida à développer ses pouvoirs et à les contrôler, et c'est grâce à lui qu'elle put éveiller son fruit. Il fut également le premier depuis Law à lui dire qu'il aimait ses oreilles et sa queue et qu'il la trouvait belle. Ils tombèrent amoureux et consommèrent cet amour ; cependant, elle lui annonça qu'elle était enceinte juste avant qu'il ne parte affronter Barbe Noire et soit capturé. Cela eut deux répercussions pour elle : premièrement, elle se senti responsable et était convaincue que s'il avait perdu, c'était de sa faute car il avait été distrait ; deuxièmement, elle supplia Doflamingo d'agir, mais celui-ci a refusé, préférant sa position de Grand Corsaire aux sentiments de sa fille adoptive. Lorsque Ace mourut, ce dont elle fut témoin en direct grâce aux diffusions live de l'Escargophone, une fausse couche se déclencha à cause de sa tristesse et de ses pouvoirs de Fruit du Démon ; la mort d'Ace s'insinuant dans son esprit et ayant des répercussions sur son fœtus. Le même jour, elle perdit l'amour de sa vie et leur enfant.En conséquence, elle développa un syndrome de stress post-traumatique grave et des problèmes de confiance, tant envers les autres qu'envers elle-même. Déjà en mauvaise santé, son état se détériora encore, et elle se voit depuis contrainte de marcher à l'aide d'une canne. Elle souffre de problèmes aux hanches, au dos et à l'utérus, ainsi que de fatigue chronique, qui s'ajoutent à son autisme, son syndrome de stress post-traumatique et son TDA.Au cours de l'Arc Dressrosa, elle tomba nez à nez avec Law au milieu de la rue. Elle reconnu immédiatement son odeur, et même si elle n'en croyait pas ses yeux, il était bien là, juste devant elle. C'était la goutte d'eau qui fit déborder le vase, et elle se jura de l'aider à vaincre Doflamingo, contre qui elle nourrissait une rancune depuis deux ans ; depuis qu'il avait refusé d'aider Ace. Une fois Doflamingo vaincu et capturé par la Marine, Sam demanda à Luffy si elle pouvait rejoindre son équipage, ce qu'il a accepté sans hésiter. Et lorsque son capitaine est parti pour Whole Cake Island à la recherche de Sanji, elle prit la mer aux côtés d'Usopp, Robin, Law et Zoro pour Wano.

Apparance

Sam est une hybride humaine-Mink-chat. Elle présente des caractéristiques animales sur son corps humain : deux oreilles félines et une queue aussi brune que ses cheveux, ainsi que des yeux noisette aux pupilles verticales. Elle est également capable de ronronner.Elle mesure 1,67 m pour 90 kg, ce qui la pousse à détester son corps qu'elle considère comme trop gros et disgracieux.Sa tenue préférée est généralement une chemise noire décorée de fleurs, associée à une longue jupe fluide et des bottines. Elle marche toujours avec une canne, mâche toujours quelque chose ou a toujours quelque chose dans la bouche (cure-dent, bâtonnet de glace, chewing-gum, sucette, se mordille les lèvres, etc.), a cinq tatouages (un serpent et un poisson à l'intérieur du bras gauche ; un visage de métamorphe sur l'omoplate droite ; un chat à trois yeux sur la cuisse droite ; et une sirène mi-humaine, mi-squelette sur la hanche gauche et qui descent sur le côté de sa cuisse), porte des lunettes, a toujours de gros cernes sous et autour des yeux, et a presque tout le temps ses cheveux tirés en arrière en un chignon négligé, sauf la nuit.
